About Brainnwave

We exist to help solve difficult problems and enable fast and confident business decisions.

We’re curious, compassionate and capable crafters. We value the customer, candour and creating compelling things. We code, we conceptualise and we care; for data, for clarity and for our clients.

A note from the founders

Brainnwave is very much of its time. We are convinced that Decision Intelligence will be a vital part of the solution to many of today’s and tomorrow’s big challenges for humanity.

At the micro level, our customers need to become ever more efficient in how they perform their operations to provide the resources needed to continuously innovate to meet commercial and Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) objectives.

At the macro level, we need to protect the environment, redesign supply chains and adjust to a new turbulent world.

All of these challenges require the ability to see both the wood and the trees and understand the difference. Decision Intelligence enables us to replace hunches with established facts. It allows us to make decisions objectively instead of following ideological or orthodox approaches. And, best of all, Decision Intelligence enables humans to use burgeoning computing power to continuously refine and improve our insights. This may seem rather grand but it is the approach that we bring to our work, big or small, day after day.

That is why we founded Brainnwave. We look forward to working with you to solve difficult problems and make smarter and faster business decisions that have a profound and positive impact on the way you do business.

Our Mission

Brainnwave’s mission is to help solve difficult problems and enable fast and confident business decisions with access to the best data-driven insights and the latest that technology and data science has to offer.

The 5 Cs

Brainnwave is driven by what we value – we have called those things The Five Cs:

  • Candour

    Trust and honesty form the foundation of a credible business. Being able to talk honestly and clearly with clients, colleagues and suppliers ensures that we create value and are held accountable.

    Having moral principles and being able to talk with sincerity are crucial when so much of business relies on good customer and colleague relationships.

  • Compassion

    Where there is compassion and empathy, there is respect. Those able to put themselves into the shoes of others, can see when someone is struggling or has acted in a certain way. Reacting to that respectively strengthens the team and client bond.

    Kindness stems from understanding and empathy, and is one of the most undervalued factors in business today.

  • Capability

    Using the right tools for the job, and our ability to turn our hand to all technologies means we can deliver best in class from start to finish.

    We have a process and a platform which allows for rapid deployment and flexibility in order to get our clients up and running quickly and robustly. Our cutting-edge tech stack and our cloud-agonistic scalability give us strong capability across the business.

  • Craftsmanship

    Consideration for our work, a genuine desire for high quality and a drive to improve our skills at every opportunity means we’re striving to be at the top of our game. Specialists or generalists, we can turn our hand to tasks which take our products and solutions to the next level.

    Speed is of the essence, but that is not at the detriment of getting it right. Clarity and accuracy over brevity.

  • Customer

    A boutique but swift approach and an outcome-focussed process means that our value-driven services are orientated around you. This is not a mass-market approach, this is bespoke and crafted, but with the speed and flexibility of an off-the-shelf solution.

    Everything we do is orientated towards building value with — and for — our clients.

Our History

When we founded Brainnwave in 2014 we saw four major technology changes that had the potential to fundamentally change the way business is done:

1. The Cloud

The rise of Cloud computing and how that dramatically reduces costs to store and process data;

2. IoT

The continued evolution of Internet of Things (IoT) and how supply chains were increasingly being digitized at every step;

3. “Big Data”

The term “big data” evolving into something meaningful now that cloud infrastructure was able to store and process; and

4. Machine learning

Machine learning, which once was an academic theory posited by Alan Turing but has now become a reality, made possible by the fusion of big data with advances in data science, and powered by the massive computing power available in the cloud.

These elements are what excited our founding team and were the guiding framework that we used to set up the business. We wanted to apply these trends to real business concepts.

Brainnwave is now a team based in Edinburgh and London – a blend of intelligence-led expertise, software engineering skills, product and commercial expertise from a diverse range of backgrounds.
